LOS ANGELES, Calif. —-Actor Shia Labeouf was briefly detained by police outside a California bar this weekend after he was struck in the face by a fellow patron during an argument.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the 24-year-old Transformer star and an unidentified man were involved in an altercation at Mad Bull’s Tavern Saturday morning around 1 a.m.
Sunny Cutler, the tavern’s manager said, “There was an exchange of words [with another man] and Shia got punched in the face.”
Labeouf and the man were briefly detained by passing police who witnessed the growing crowd outside the tavern early Saturday morning.
Lebeouf and his sparring partner were both questioned and released after both men declined to press charges.
Cutler told The Hollywood Reporter that Labeouf is something of a regular at the Mad Dog, adding several other famous faces also drink at the upscale hotspot on Ventura Boulevard like Ashlee Simpson, (Wait who is she again?)
Labeouf, no stranger to the long arm of the law, was arrested in Los Angeles in 2008 for suspicion of drunk driving after his Ford F-150 was struck on the side by a car running a red light. Officers responding to the crash smelled alcohol on Labeouf’s breath. Because he refused a Breathalyzer examination L.A.P.D. officers arrested the actor and charged him with misdemeanor drunk driving and suspended his driver’s license for one year.
He was also arrested in 2007 after he refused to leave a Chicago Walgreens, those charges were later dropped.Tags: Bar Fight, California, LAPD, Los Angeles, Mad Bull’s Tavern, police, Shia Labeouf
