If there is one person of the face of this planet that has even a margin of leeway in regards to the Michael Jordan, greatest baller every argument, it would be his long time wing-man and NBA Hall of Famer, Scottie Pippen. And as the new look Miami Heat, with LeBron James leading the charge, ousting Jordan and Pippen’s Chicago Bulls from the NBA Playoffs just last night, the former All-Star forward got to jawing about Bron and the greatest to ever lace ’em up.
This morning on ESPN’s esteemed broadcast Mike and Mike, appropriately so, Pippen was the guest of choice in discussing his former team’s recent defeat. And as comes up in just about every basketball conversation/debate ever held, the talk transitioned to Jordan being the best to ever play the game. Now again, Scottie won six championships along side His Airness and probably knows his on the court antics and persona as well as any. So his response to Mike and Mike’s prodding was nothing short of shocking, to say the least.
“Michael Jordan is probably the greatest scorer to ever play the game. I may go so far as saying LeBron James may be the greatest player to ever play the game,” said Pippen to surprised and even outraged listeners all across the country.
And while I fully understand his argument and partially agree even, as LeBron is indeed the real life, video game version of an NBA superstar, the kid still has zero rings on his fingers. Yes, he may get there this year, but he will still have a long and gruesome haul to go before catching MJ and his six pieces of bling.
So Scottie, I suggest you hide out for a while and good luck ignoring all of those hater phone calls, texts, and emails. To Michael, your boy simply forgot to take his meds this morning. And LeBron, yeah you’re accustomed to this talk, just please take it home this year.Lebron James, Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen
