It’s called the “Create a Found Instrument” contest and it challenges students to use their imagination to create a new musical instrument made from non-conformed materials – very similar to the instruments that the Blue Men use during their show.
This morning, the Blue Man Group and the Clark County School District surprised the winner of the 2008-2009 “Create a Found Instrument” contest by visiting their school and awarding the winner and their class with a prize package including $1,000 to further their education. The sponsoring teacher’s school department was also awarded $5,000 to create additional contests and learning opportunities for students.
The Blue Man Group worked with the Clark County School District to incorporate curriculum with its math, performing arts and science departments in order to help inspire creativity in the classroom. It all happened this morning at Shadow Ridge High School around 10:30am, being the second year for the “Create a Found Instrument” contest.
