MIAMI, Fla. —- Once again we plunge nose first into the pool of the odd and unusual to bring you the true tale of burglars who mistook cremated remains for drugs and snorted them.
The ashes were taken from a woman’s home in the central Florida town of Silver Springs Shores on Dec 15. The thieves took an urn containing the ashes of the woman’s father and an urn containing the ashes of her two Great Danes. Not content with their haul they also made off with her jewelry and some electronic equipment according to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.
Investigators learned what happen to the cremated remains last week when they arrested the five pubescent punks in connection with another burglary attempt at a nearby home.
The morons mistook the ashes for either cocaine or heroin. It was soon discovered that the five feeble minded thieves snorted some of the ashes believing they were snorting cocaine,” the sheriff’s report said.
Once they realized their error, the suspects discussed returning the remaining ashes but threw them in a lake instead because they thought their fingerprints were on the containers, sheriff’s spokesman Judge Cochran said.
Police divers were trying to recover the ashes. The suspects were jailed on numerous charges of burglary and other crimes.
So in the end everyone loses and for what? Perhaps if the teens had kept their noses clean this whole mess could have been avoided.Tags: Burglars snort ashes, Crime, Florida, Miami, Offbeat, police
