Be it the silver screen, the Super Bowl, the Grammy’s, the tabloids, hot L.A. parties, or a brief snafu with the West Hollywood sheriff’s station… One thing is for certain, Christina Aguilera is everywhere these days. In keeping with her very public pattern, we will be seeing a lot more of the belting beauty as Aguilera just scored a new job that will have her basking in even more air-time.
Access Hollywood confirms that “Christina has signed on to be a coach on NBC’s upcoming singing reality competition, ‘The Voice’ ” – a show most definitely in the vein of FOX’s hit reality institution, “American Idol” – which I believe if I’m not mistaken is in its 30th season and still refuses to lose the interest of my mother.
Now here’s how the show works. So far, Aguilera will be joining Maroon 5’s lead singer Adam Levine and music producer / performer Cee Lo Green. NBC released the following statement: “A total of four coaches will be a part of the ‘The Voice,’ a reality singing competition that will feature mentors picking singers during blind auditions. Once the coaches have their teams, they will bring in their own songwriters, producers and industry pals to help their teams evolve.”
Much like Jennifer Lopez did on “American Idol,” Aguilera knows this is probably a good move from a career stand point. She said recently, “I am so excited to be part of such a wonderful project that celebrates music and the talent behind it.” But not only that, the flip-side of the show revealed they wanted her just as badly. Mark Burnett, who’ll be producing the “The Voice” along with Talpa Productions and Warner Horizon Television said, “When I decided to produce ‘The Voice,’ I immediately knew that my first choice for a female coach had to be Christina Aguilera.”
The show is slated to premiere on April 26 at 9 PM, and will be hosted by NBC’s own Carson Daly. Remember him from his current gig hosting “Last Call” which airs after Jimmy Fallon at 1:35 AM? Yeah… me neither.
