On Friday night there was a special tribute for turntable phenom DJ AM, Adam Goldstein, at the Palms Casino Resort inside Rain Nightclub Las Vegas. It is with great misfortune that DJ AM passed away last week in his New York City apartment.
DJ AM was the resident DJ at Rain Nightclub and hosted a weekly event called “AM Fridays.” On select Friday nights he would spin his classic hip-hop mash-ups and rock the Vegas crowd. This past Friday, in his honor, the staff inside the nightclub wore DJ AM t-shirts and Nike sneakers.
At about midnight, DJ R.O.B. (Rob Hathcock) stopped the music to say a few words for his friend. Shortly after, he called for 60 seconds of silence in remembrance of him. The crowd raised their lighters and cell phones in the sky while the DJ played P. Diddy’s rendition of “I’ll Be Missing You.” In the background, a photo montage of DJ AM appeared on the video screens throughout the club. Outside of the Palms Casino Resort – the main sign in front of the building was darkened so that only the letters A and M were illuminated.
“We are deeply saddened by the news of DJ AM’s passing. He was not only our resident DJ at Rain Nightclub inside the Palms Casino Resort, he was also our brother in music. His impact was felt immediately and will have a lasting effect on all who had the chance to experience ‘AM Fridays.’ He is a gifted and talented artist who changed the international music scene and helped make Las Vegas one of the DJ capitals of the world. He will be dearly missed.” – Michael Morton, Managing Member and Co-Found of N9NE Group.Tags: Adam Goldstein, DJ AM, Palms Casino Resort, Rain Nightclub Las Vegas
