PHOENIX, Ariz. —- Jailed rapper DMX has been moved to the Arizona Department of Corrections Flamenco Mental Health Unit at Alhambra according to prison officials.
DMX whose real name is Earl Simmons has been incarcerated since Dec. 16 after pleading guilty to violating the terms of his probation.
Billboard.com quoted Judge Christine Mulleneaux as telling Simmons at his sentencing she believes he has “an undiagnosed mental condition,” possibly bi-polar disorder.
The 40-year-old hip hop star has been locked up 13 times in connection with assaults, weapons, drugs and animal-cruelty charges.
Billboard.com said the performer was admitted to the mental health unit Dec. 20. What exactly brought him there, what he is being treated for and when he is expected to be discharged were not reported.Tags: Arizona, DMX, Mental Health, Phoenix, prison, rapper
