HOLIDAY,Fla.–The service industry can be a tough and often thankless career choice, as was the case for a McDonald’s employee who was hit in the head with a bag of food by a drunk Florida man who was upset because  of a missing a drink order.

The Pasco County Sheriff’s Office said Todd Rogers, 30,  went through a McDonald’s drive-through in Holiday with his girlfriend, who was driving, shortly after midnight Sunday and returned a few minutes later when they discovered they were missing a drink.

Florida authorities said Rogers, who was extremely intoxicated, screamed obscenities at 22-year-old woman working at the McDonald’s and poked her causing her to step back, investigators said that’s when Rogers allegedly threw a bag of food at the woman, striking her in the head. Rogers then threw a second bag of food as the woman closed the window, according to the arrest report.

When Sheriff’s deputies caught up with Rogers, they found him passed out in a Buick in his driveway. Deputies charged him simple battery.

“I hit her in the…head with a bag of food, so what?” Rogers, who seemed unapologetic, allegedly told deputies.

“I deserve to go to jail,” the report quotes him as saying. “I don’t care.”

At the time of this report, it was unclear whether Rogers has a lawyer, or if he remained in jail.

Attempts to contact the McDonald’s store for comment remained unanswered.

This is not the first-time a McDonald’s employee has been assaulted over food, In January 2010, a security video from an Ohio McDonald’s caught an intoxicated 24-year-old woman reaching into the drive-through window and punching two restaurant employees because she could not get Chicken McNuggets for breakfast.

The woman later identified as Melodi Dushane was subsequently arrested and sentenced to three years’ probation and ordered to pay $1,531.97 in restitution for her McNugget tantrum. (See video below.)
