TAMPA. Fla. —- A Florida mother, who shot and killed her son while driving him home from soccer and then killed her daughter, told police she was sick of her mouthy kids.
Police charged Julie Schenecker, 50, with first-degree murder Friday, The Tampa Tribune reported. Shortly after she was booked, Schenecker was taken to Tampa General Hospital for a pre-existing medical condition and was in intensive care, police said.
The wife of a military intelligence officer, Schenecker, allegedly shot her son Beau, 13, Thursday afternoon using a gun she purchased a few days before. When she returned home to her gated community in Tampa Palms, she allegedly killed her daughter, Calyx, 16, who was doing her homework at the time.
Schenecker’s mother, Pat Powers, who lives in Texas, called Tampa police hours later, saying she was concerned because her daughter had not been answering her phone. When officers arrived, they found Schenecker, covered in blood on the porch.
A police spokeswoman said Schenecker told officers the children were “mouthy and she was tired of it.”
Police found a long note allegedly written by the soccer mom saying she planned to kill her children and herself.
Her Husband Col. Parker Schenecker, assigned to U.S. Central Command, was in Qatar.Tags: Beau, Calyx, Florida, Julie Schenecker, kids, murder
