Although their publicists are still not dishing much on the details, it’s been confirmed that our favorite crazy couple was officially married on Saturday night in India, in front of a close-knit group of family and friends.
Their rep had only this to say: “Russell Brand and Katy Perry are overjoyed to confirm that they were pronounced Mr. and Mrs. Brand on Saturday, October 23. The very private and spiritual ceremony, attended by the couples’ closest family and friends was performed by a Christian minister and longtime friend of the Hudson Family. The backdrop was the inspirational and majestic countryside of Northern India.”
As for the juicy specs, we do know that Perry, 25, and Brand, 35, became husband and wife in a traditional Hindu ceremony that was fit for a king and queen. We’re talking five-star celebrations here, complete with Indian musicians and singers at every turn, acrobats and even jugglers. The kicker? Both the bride and groom were picked up from their luxury resort, not by a limo, or even by horse, but by elephant! For Indians, elephant transport to the wedding site is only for royalty.
Not too shabby Mr. and Mrs. B.
Since they arrived in India a few days ago, their Bollywood-themed wedding festivities have been in full swing, and boy these two are far from stingy towards their guests. Each of the lucky 80 attendees has been given the royal treatment from the moment they landed in India, in the form of private song and dance performances, shopping trips and even safaris. And not only that, but they’ve been put-up in some super lux digs called the Aman-i-Khas Resort in Rajastjan, which is right near the tiger sanctuary where Brand popped the question last December.
Well, she may have kissed a girl and liked it, but our Californian girl has married her prince.
