NEW ORLEANS, La. — 80’s Belgian martial artist Jean-Claude Van Damme suffered a heart attack while filming his latest flick “Weapon” in New Orleans according to E! News online.
The actor who just turned 50, recently wrapped production in Romania and was in the Cresent City for a three-day shoot when he suffered a minor heart attack, halting the film’s production.
The Muscles from Brussels was rushed to a local hospital and stabilized.
According to TwitchFilm.net, JCVD joined by his wife, flew back to Belgium following his release from the hospital, where he is expected to make a full recovery.
In a comment issued via email, Van Damme’s reps said, “He is okay.”
Van Damme’s latest health scare leaves one to wonder how this will affect the production of “Weapon,” which also stars, Vinnie Jones and “The Bourne Ultimatum” actor Scott Adkins.
Jones who has worked with Van Damme in the past was supposed to play a rival assassin whose forced to cooperate in their effort to bring down a drug cartel.
Jones’ character was described as being handy with guns of all sorts, while Van Damme would be a master of blades. It appears that Jones has dropped out of the project, with Adkins possibly stepping into a larger role. The film was first announced back in September `09.
Van Damme is best known for his roles in such films as, “Bloodsport,” Kickboxer,” and “Double Impact.”
