Comedian Jimmy Kimmel certainly made sense when he requested that we initiate a “national un-friend day” on the popular Facebook social networking site. Gone are the days when you know everyone that you are “friends” with on Facebook. Chances are, over time you have befriended and “liked” different business, companies or people who sent you friend requests because they had something they wanted to promote. When is enough, enough? Are we cheapening the concept of friendship here? Jimmy Kimmel seems to think so:
“NUD is the international day when all Facebook users shall protect the sacred nature of friendship by cutting out any ‘friend fat’ on their pages occupied by people who are not truly their friends,” state Jimmy Kimmel’s website.
Although I don’t think we’re in any immediate danger of losing our passion for Facebook, I bet you would agree that it’s becoming more and more like MySpace, which we can agree isn’t a good thing! Check out the video below:
