There is a new cola product coming onto the market soon. And what might surprise you more than the fact that it is laced with traces of marijuana is the fact that it is not original. Californian developer, Clay Butler, is marketing his medical marijuana to an outlet in Colorado with the hopes that California dispensaries of medical marijuana will soon follow.
Butler says his brand is not as potent as his competition’s and contains around 35-65 milligrams of THC. This keeps it from having a heavy after taste. What is heavy is the price. You will have to fork out somewhere around $10, if not more, for a 12 ounce bottle. But then, medicine is expensive. In return you can take your pick from Doc Weed (if you didn’t already figure this was a take on Dr. Pepper), Sour Diesel, Grape Ape, Orange Kush and, of course, Canna Cola.
“I don’t do drugs,” reported Butler to the Santa Cruz Sentinel back on January 24, 2011, “Never have. I never drank, never smoked. I’m a clean-living guy. I’ve had two beers in my whole life, and I remember them both too. No marijuana, I’ve never smoked a cigarette. I take an aspirin when I get a headache. That’s it.”
While Butler may be getting ready to count the pennies coming in, he might have a bump in the road to success. Senator Diane Feinstein has Bill 258, known as the “Brownie Law”, waiting to be passed in the House, as it has already gone through the Senate. If Bill 258 passes, Butler may need more than an aspirin to ease his pain.
