HACKENSACK, N.J. —- A New Jersey pilot was sentenced to probation Monday for dropping several rolls of toilet paper from his plane while flying over a high school in October.

60-year-old Warren Sanders pled guilty to a single charge of dropping objects from an aircraft in a densely populated area.

In a plea deal with the Bergen County Prosecutors Office, Sanders agreed to write a letter of apology to the mayor and council of Hackensack for the Oct. 13 incident, as well as being placed on probation for an unspecified amount of time.

Sanders said his intentions were to cover the field in “streamers” for the upcoming game. He said he did not know there were children on the field at the time.

It remains unclear who had the task of cleaning up all the toilet paper.
