A beverage, better yet, taste that redefined generations. A statement a bit too strong regarding a mere “soda”? It’s cool, I beg you to cleverly rebuttal (all love). Since bursting onto the scene a mere 125 years ago, Atlanta based Coca-Cola (oh, you’ve heard of them?) have seemingly transformed and re-transformed themselves into a multi-faceted empire amongst the likes of McDonalds and Nike, to name a few. But with all due and great success, is a great forever hidden secret—the masterful recipe.
It is said the the “ancient” formula, to this current day, is only fully known by two of the multi-billion dollar company’s higher up executives, at any given point in time. Talk about keeping a lid on things. At the same time, word (or should I say legend?) has it that the original ingredients and recipe are locked up inside of a highly secured vault, hidden somewhere on their home based, Atlanta property. We’re talking SWAT team surveillance 24/7, all the while Chuck Norris waits eagerly in the bushes nearby. No sarcasm whatsoever, ha.
Unlucky for the cartel of a company however, producers from This American Life claim that they have cleverly discovered the billion dollar formula through a photograph of a handwritten copy of the recipe that appeared in a 1979 article, featured in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Word is that the publication was unaware of the images contents at the time.
So of course, having the components to formulate the sweet, heavenly nectar, the team sought out to attempt a creation of Coca-Cola themselves to then see if it was, in fact, the legitimate noting. In the meantime, of course Coca-Cola has denied all accounts that their prized, treasured secret has been unlocked, but the crew from This American Life says what they conjured from their findings, is pretty darn close to what you taste when you pop the top on the original. But hey, don’t just take their or my word for it even. Find out for yourself, for looky looky what we have here. Enjoy the recipe below and let us know what you think!
