This is Aaron Fust, the founder and designer of Syrup Swimwear and I am the new fashion editor/writer for DailyScene.com! I will be reporting and editorializing to you on the world of fashion, what’s hot, what’s not, the behind the scenes view of the business of fashion as well as my personal experiences and opinions as they happen.
This week I am going to kick off my articles with what may be the most watched fashion show in the world- the annual Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show! Thanks to my friends at Victoria’s Secret, I was able to attend the show on Wednesday, November 10th at the Lexington Avenue Armory in Manhattan. The sheer volume of electricity consumed by this production called for two semi-truck sized generators just to supplement power for lighting, sound, climate control and of course cameras!
This well run production by the international event production management company OBO (http://www.oboglobal.com) began with, of course, a run of pink carpet and the Victoria’s Secret/CBS media wall. Upon entering the Armory, the first thing you notice is the glittering gold runway. The flashing lights added to the sparkling runway fit for the soon to be striding Angels. The sultry red velvet stage curtains had the Victoria’s Secret name in massive letters right across the top to make sure that if your head starts spinning so bad that you forget where you are, you will at least know who is responsible.
This year’s fashion show features musical acts by AKON and Katy Perry and such well known Victoria’s Secret Angels as Adriana Lima, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Candice Swanepoel, Chanel Iman and Erin Heatherton as well as a number of newer and equally stunning beauties.
Among other costumery, the Victoria’s Secret fashions are highlighted by amazing sculptural body pieces by Yasemen Hussein (http://www.yasemenhussein.com), shoes by Giuseppe Zanotti (http://www.giuseppezanottidesign.com) and of course the show wouldn’t be complete without the surreal appearance of the world’s most beautiful women wearing the famous Angel’s wings.
For a sneak peek of the action you can visit the ABC website (http://www.cbs.com/specials/victorias_secret/) but to see the all the runway action as well as behind the scenes interviews and pink carpet photos you will have to watch the airing of the show on November 30th on CBS.
I hope you enjoyed the first article in the fashion section of DailyScene.com. Please feel free to send feedback, ideas and suggestions directly to me at [email protected]
