We created the ultimate McDonald’s burger for Australia with ‘Create Your Taste’

McDonald’s in Australia is a little different to the rest of the world.

Down Under, there’s a thing called “Create Your Taste” where customers can come in and select — using a touch screen computer — ingredients to make their own meal. The ingredients are a little more upmarket than the standard cheeseburger deal, with things like caramelised onion, aioli and brioche buns all available to order and served on a wood platter to your table.

“Create Your Taste” only had beef as the main meat component until recently, but now McDonald’s is adding chicken to the roster. The proper stuff, too, not the pink sludge out of a tube that your mate always chimes in about when you’re mainlining nuggets on a night out.

Macca’s — as it is known in Australia — went around to each Australian state and collected data on what people used most when making their own burgers with “Create Your Taste.” They’ve managed to give us a list of the most used ingredients country-wide and we combined them together to give you a burger that should probably be on our National Coat of Arms. The results may shock you, but it will definitely make you hungry.

Mashable Australia officially presents to you Australia’s favourite McDonald’s burger.

Ingredients: Angus beef patty and McDonald’s Classic Cheese on a bakers bun with whole leaf lettuce, tomato, caramelised grilled onions, crispy bacon and Big Mac Sauce. We have no idea why beetroot isn’t an option, because it would be here.

They’ve also done the calculations state-by-state as well, and there are some noticeable differences.

No greasy statistics from the Northern Territory or Australian Capital Territory, we’re afraid, but there is no doubt the monstrosities those regions have made can rival anything on offer here.

Feel free to make your own on the Australian Macca’s website. You can even save your combinations with a QR code to take to the store and order it that way, if you want to put that much thought into ordering McDonald’s.
