From the entrance to the Zumanity Theater inside of the NY NY Hotel and Casino on the Las Vegas “Strip” to the seats, you know immediately that you have stepped into a Cirque du Soleil production. The designers have spent a large amount of time on attention to detail. A great way to make the audience feel more intimately connected with one another and the Cirque cast.
When I first arrived inside the theatre, I was greeted by the Zumanity cast in the lobby before the rest of the public were allowed inside. The cast was very warm and made their way around to meet and greet with everyone in the Cirque-n-Blog group as well as other press there last night. Several ladies were dressed sensually and some even had mock breasts. A couple of characters included a performer on stilts made to look like a centaur, a biker & biker lady, two very funny & jolly sisters as well as other acrobatic cast.

After the initial meet and greet, we were escorted to our seats which were right behind and one level up from the lighting booth. These seats are excellent as they provided us with a direct line of sight view of the show. From the way the seating is arranged, even if someone had a seat to the left or right of the stage, everyone gets an equal section of view. Seats located in the upper level are also well arranged and provide a nice vantage point.
The show first starts with the jolly sisters walking around handing out strawberries, while interacting with each other and the crowd. The crowd enjoyed not only the banter between the two but also enjoyed how they involved certain visitors, too. Then the show progressed with an excellent husband and wife skit that gets the crowd very excited. The cast involve people in the crowd as well in funny suggestive situations that gets the crowd excited. Lights dim and an original musical score starts that is unique to Cirque du Soleil.

Madam of ceremony appears from beneath the stage to introduce the evening and what it means to be part of the “Zumanity Family”. Each character that we met in the lobby is involved in several scenes with many acrobatic or dance related acts. I particularly enjoyed the flying people that went over the crowd as well as the two ladies that swam around in the fish bowl. There is a “scene” for everyone in this excellent show.
When in Vegas next time, be sure not to miss this sexy and exciting show by an amazing cast that is sure to please. Cirque du Soleil is currently running a promotion to MyVegasScene.com readers for a Cirque Zumanity 35% promotional offer that is valid through May 2009.
